Moghe speaks plain on Maharashtra Day to avoid poll code violation; sticks to State

As a token of tradition to mark Maharashtra Day in city, Nagpur district Guardian Minister and Social Justice Minister Shivajirao Moghe took to Kasturchan Park on Thursday, May 1 which is also observed as Labour Day. Contrary to earlier speculations over Moghe’s heading the event in view of poll code, the minister was outright in sticking to the day value instead of diverting his speech towards political flavor. Throughout his address, Moghe remained plain and flat while minding his words which were strictly monitored by opposition cadres, sources said.

DSC_0268Speaking on the occasion Moghe said Maharashtra State has played a major role in the development of the country, adding the state was formed for the Marathi people of the region. He also commended Maharashtra police’s efforts saying the force have always contributed towards maintaining the internal law and security in the country.

Indicating Labour Day Moghe said the state has been working for the welfare and development of labours in the country.

Prominently present on the occasion were Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar, Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Collector Abhishek Krishna, and Superintendent of police Aarti Singh. Also present on the occasion were NIT Chairman Pravin Darade, Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena, Yadavrao Deogade, freedom fighters and their families and other prominent personalities.

A grand police parade which showcased the prowess of various departments of Maharashtra police, displayed under the leadership of IPS officer Gaurav Singh at Kasturchand Park with assistance of Second-in-Command SRPF Sub-Inspector Kisan Navghare. Among the groups who marched for the event included State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) unit No. 4 was headed by Police Sub-Inspector Shrikrishna Hirpurkar while SRPF Unit No. 13, Gadchiroli was headed by PSI Prakash Wankhede. PSI Gaurav Ingole led the Nagpur police group while PSI Sanjay Singh led the Railway Police unit. Lady PSI Sneha Gangadhar Lande led the Nagpur lady police platoon while Tikaram Patil led the Homeguard platoon while the lady Homeguard platton was guided by Rekha Dambhare. Nagpur Traffic Police platoon presented a perfect march past under the leadership of PSI Manoj Orke. Assistant Police Sub Inspector Suresh Lokhande, Ram Sasane, Ajabrao Wankhede, Ranju Wankhede led the Nagpur City SRP Unit No. 4, Nagpur (rural) and Nagpur Railway Police Band respectively. ‘Veeru’ from the dog squad participated in the march past under the leadership of PSI Dattuji Pandhare, Hawaldar Ayub Pathan, Dog Handler Police Nayak Vinod Ukey. Security vehicle ‘Marx Man’ was displayed in the parade with handlers Constable Jayanta Saneshwar and Sarang Raut while bullet proof car was displayed by Constable Ratan Doifode and Nitin Rane. Constables Amol Topre and Satish Khadse led the platoon of Anti Mines van used for the security of civilians. Sunil Nilawar headed the unit of VIP Security Jeepsy, Chandrapal Shambharkar and Ramesh Barde headed Fire Department platoon while Dr Chirag Bhoj and Khemraj Vaikunthi participated in the unit of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital Ambulance team.

Also, policemen who were awarded for their bravery and contribution to the police force were presented with citation and a certificate. PI (Crime Branch, Nagpur) Mahadev Giri, PIRamesh Badre, PI Dagubhai Sheikh, Sunil Kinge, Assistant PSI Shyamji Boriwar, Hemantkumar Pande, Bhagwatprasad Mishra, Ramashray Mishra (Nagur rural), PSI (SRPF Unit No. 4) Ashoklal Singh, PSI Krishna Charde, Ashok Wankhede, PSI (SRPF Unit No. 13) Kaushal Dubey, and Assistant PSI Manik Tayde were felicitated at the hands of Shivajirao Moghe with citation, bouquet and certificate.

Similarly, PSI Moreshwar Mahurkar was honoured with Police Director General Award posthumously. His wife Nirmala Moreshwar Mahurkar received the award.

Maharashtra Day celebrated at Collectorate

The 54th Maharashtra Day was celebrated at Nagpur Municipal Office on Thursday wherein District Collector Abhishek Krishna unfurled the national flag.

Present prominently on the occasion were Additional Collector Panjabrao Wankhede, Sub Divisional Officer Rahul Rekhawar, Sub Divisional Election Officer Pradeep Dange, Praveen Mahajan, Sub Division Officer Prakash Patil, Prakash Sharma, Nishikant Suke, Aasha Pathan, Sujata Gandhe, and other officers.
