Continuing his attack on the prime minister, Congress president Rahul Gandhi today said that Narendra Modi uses hate, fear and anger to build his narrative.

“The point of yesterday’s debate in Parliament…PM uses Hate, Fear and Anger in the hearts of some of our people to build his narrative. We are going to prove that Love and Compassion in the hearts of all Indians, is the only way to build a nation,” he said on Twitter.

After a no-holds barred and scathing criticism of Modi on several issues in Lok Sabha yesterday during the no-trust motion debate, the Congress chief walked across to the prime minister and hugged him, a gesture which took the House members by surprise.

Modi, who initially looked non-plussed and did not stand up to hug him, recovered quickly and called Gandhi back and patted him on the back.

“This is what it means to be a Hindu,” Gandhi said after coming back to his seat amid a big applause from his party members, including his mother Sonia Gandhi and other leaders present.
