Nagpur/Mansar: Ramtek segment MLA Mallikarjun Reddy on Monday demanded compensation to loss of crops of farmers from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule whom he, along with a delegation of farmers, met at Ravi Bhavan here in the city.
MLA Reddy accompanied by officials had surveyed the crops of paddy, soyabean and other seasonal cereals at Nandapuri, Nerla, Dudhala, Chacher, Nisatkheda, Nagardhan, Salva, Chichala, Ashti, Barshi and other villages under Ramtek constituency and found them badly damaged by pests and diseases.
He then led a delegation of affected farmers and met Guardian Minister and Union Minister Gadkari and urged them to take initiatives towards immediate payment of compensation to farmers for loss to their crops.
Assuring the delegation, Guardian Minister Bawankule said that he would soon speak to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in this regard.
He immediately called District Collector Sachin Kurve and directed him to submit the updated report about the issue within 2 days for necessary action by the government. He also advised the farmers to take up supplementary vocations like fishery, poultry, goat-farming, etc, to balance their economic condition.
The delegation consisted of Ashok Kuthe, Sanjay Mulmuley, Balchandra Baile, Prakash Wande, ZP member Kamlakar Menghar, Kalpana Chahande, Rajesh Kadu, Pappu Yadav, Dr Badule, Yogesh Gadhe, Anita Diyewar, former ZP president Sadanand Nimkar and others.
