A 17 year old girl was repeatedly raped upon promise of marriage and was ditched later when she became pregnant. The incident happened in Dighori under Nandanvan police station during the span between September 2013 and January 2014. The pregnant girl has lodged a complaint with Nandanvan police station.
Sources said Sandeep Lahanu Satibawne (26) met the 17-year-old victim last year and got into relationship with her. The accused promised marriage to the girl and took her to Plot No. 42, Shivsunder Nagar, Dighori and established physical intimacy. The girl soon conceived and asked Sandeep to marry her at the earliest. However,Sandeep appeared no more interested. The victim was shattered upon his refusal. However she still tried to convince him, but to no avail.
Sandeep then threatened to kill the victim if she narrates about their relation. He also threatened to tarnish her image in society. Thus, shutting the girl up.
However, the girl gathered courage and finally reached Nandanvan police on Monday and lodged a complaint against Sandeep. Nandanvan police registered an offence under sections 376 (2), 506 (b) read with sub sections 6 and 10 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and arrested Sandeep. Further investigations are in progress.
