Nagpur: In a bizarre incident, a 17-year old girl was raped repeatedly by a close relative with marriage promise but was deserted when she became pregnant. The victimised girl had come to her elder sister’s house for her help as she was pregnant. The elder sister’s brother-in-law lured the 17-year old girl with marriage and exploited her sexually frequently.
A resident of Koradi area, teenage girl decided to go to her elder sister’s house in the month of August 2017 for helping her in household work as she was pregnant. During her stay, the accused Chanchalesh (20), brother-in-law of the elder-sister, lured the teenage girl by doling out marriage promise and established physical relations with her. The accused exploited the girl sexually frequently. However, when the girl became pregnant, the accused not only refused to marry with her but threatened her of dire consequences.
Koradi ASI Pramod Wakde, based on the complaint lodged by the rape survivor, has booked the accused Chanchalesh under Sections 376, 506 of the IPC read with Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further probe is underway.
