Tension ran high in Minimata Nagar area when a middle aged woman was found murdered with head crushed apparently by heavy stones. Body of the woman was spotted lying near Nagpur-Umred Railway Line (Narrow gauge) in the wee hours of Friday triggering panic among the nearby residents. On being informed about the sensational murder, a team of Kalamna policemen, led by PI Sunil Bonde, rushed to the crime scene and mounted a thorough investigation into the case.

The murdered woman was identified as Lalli Manohar Yadav (45). It is being said that the deceased Lalli was homeless and an alcoholic. On Thursday night, Lalli was seen dancing at a programme organized to celebrate Gaura-Gauri festivity. However, the cops were found clueless over the reasons for Lalli’s murder and identity of the killer(s) as well.

The initial probe has revealed that the deceased Lalli Yadav was generally found staying in Minimata Nagar Khapri Mohalla near Dipti Signal area of Kalamna. Her daughter Kiran has got married. Lalli used to clean utensils and sometimes go begging for livelihood. Being homeless, she used to spend nights at any place of her choice. It is being said that because of Lalli’s diehard habit of consuming liquor she was ousted from her house and since then was living homeless. Lalli was last seen dancing and enjoying Gaura-Gauri celebration on Thursday night. However, on Friday morning around 6.30, Lalli was found murdered behind Sai Leela Apartment near Nagpur-Umred Railway line. Her head was crushed probably with heavy stones. The finding of Lalli’s half-naked body suggested that she could have been sexually assaulted by the unidentified murderer(s) and resistance could have led to her killing. Cops after completing the initial probe and paper formalities sent body of Lalli to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem. The post-mortem report could possibly throw more light on the sensational murder.

Youth established identity:

A youth residing in the area first established the identity of the murdered woman in the form of Lalli Manohar Yadav. The crime scene was also visited by chief of Crime Branch Ranjan Sharma and other higher officials. A case of murder was registered at Kalamna Police Station and investigations are on to nab the offenders.
