MIDC police have arrested four persons on the basis of complaint-counter complaint after a clash broke out between two groups on Wednesday night.
According to police, the first complainant Mangesh Baliram Punde (29), a resident of Nildoh old slums, was returning home after attending a musical programme on Wednesday. While returning, he noticed an ensuing fight between Lakhan Sinha and Shivkumar Govardhan Meshram (44). Since Mangesh was friendly with Lakhan, he immediately intervened and tried to calm down both Lakhan and Shivkumar. However, Mangesh’s attempt for peace boomeranged and he himself became target of Shivkumar’s anger. Shivkumar, along with his accomplices Dhanraj Domaji Gajbhiye (50), Rajesh Khushwaha, Jageshwar Rajput, Pitambar Rajput, Vikky alias Pranay Meshram, Mukesh Gadpale and other 3-4 persons attacked Mangesh and his family members. The attack left Mangesh’s family members with minor injuries. They were later admitted to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital.
MIDC police, taking action on the basis of Mangesh’s complaint, registered offences under Sections 143, 147, 149, 323 and 325 of the IPC against the accused and arrested Shivkumar and Dhanraj in this connection.
However, Shivkumar Govardhan Meshram, resident of Jhenda Chowk, Nildoh, lodged a counter complaint with MIDC police against a group of people including Mangesh Baliram Punde and Bhojraj Gangaram Uikey (46), a resident of Old Nildoh.
Shivkumar, in his complaint, stated that on Wednesday when he was returning home after attending a musical programme, Mangesh and his accomplices accosted him and started a quarrel over an old dispute. Shivkumar further said that Mangesh thrashed him and his friends with wooden sticks and damaged his DJ.
On the basis of the complaint of Shivkumar, MIDC police have arrested Mangesh and Bhojraj under Sections 143, 147, 149, 294, 323, 325 and 427 of the IPC.
