Nagpur: Councilor, Prakash Gajbhiye, with a single question has raised a big question on the Metro planning. He, in the Legislative Council, has stated that the pillar of reach-3 of Mahametro, being constructed just near the Ambajhari Lake, may prove to be a threat for its existence in future.

He has also claimed that for the construction, no NOC has been received from Safety Organisation.

Responding to the allegations, minister Ranjeet Patil said, “according to the law enforced by Water Resources Department in 2013, no construction can be done within 200 metres of a reservoir. The Municipal Corporation had requested permission for construction to the Safety organization”. Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis has assured that the issue will be resolved soon.

However, the question which arises now is that how and why such overlooking of laws was conducted. The construction at a susceptible spot has been carried out without evaluating the consequences. Gajbhiye also said that he supports the metro and its planning. However, it is just his apprehension to avoid any unfavorable event in future. It is to be mentioned here that 17 more pillars are to constructed by the lake the work of which has currently been delayed due to monsoon.
