Nagpur: A second year MBBS student at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) tried to commit suicide by consuming pills inside the college hostel on Wednesday night.
Akola based female student was learnt to be under depression for the past six-seven months. On Jan 30, she was alone in her hostel room when she consumed 20-25 pills. Subsequently her friend who entered the room found her in unconscious state alerted hostel staff and students. The student was immediately rushed to ICU where her condition was reportedly stable.
Fifth incident in past three years
In the span of three years, GMCH has already witnessed two suicides and three attempts to suicide. Few months back, a lady doctor had tried to slit her neck due to depression.
