Nagpur: In a fresh crackdown on the illegal narcotics trade in Nagpur, the Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested two alleged drug peddlers in the Sakkardara police station area and seized 52 grams of MD powder along with other articles collectively valued at Rs 2.68 lakh. The action has also exposed the alleged involvement of three drug suppliers, who have been identified and are currently being hunted by police.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday near the public road in front of Vishal Mega Mart at Bhandewadi Plot Chowk, where the squad intercepted the suspects and recovered the contraband.
The arrested accused have been identified as Suraj Kathane and Harshal Abgad. During the search, police allegedly recovered 52 grams of MD powder, three mobile phones and a two-wheeler. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at Rs 2.68 lakh.
Three suppliers identified, police launch manhunt
During interrogation, the arrested suspects allegedly disclosed the names of three persons who had supplied the MD drug to them. Police are now attempting to trace these suspected suppliers to establish the source of the narcotics and unravel the wider distribution network.
The revelation has added another dimension to the investigation, with investigators focusing on identifying the supply chain behind the drug peddling operation and determining whether the accused were part of a larger narcotics network operating in the city.
A case has been registered at Sakkardara police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway.
The latest action highlights the continuing efforts of Nagpur Police to curb the circulation of synthetic drugs and dismantle networks involved in supplying narcotics to the city.
