MCOCA slapped on six ring road robbers who were arrested in a well-planned operation

MCOCA Crime Branch MeetingNagpur: Continuing its stringent action against hardcore criminals, city police have slapped MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act) on a gang of six robbers who were arrested recently by Hudkeshwar police in a well-planned operation. Earlier, the six accused were booked and arrested under Sections 395, 341, 392, 34 of IPC read with Sub-Sections 4+25 of Arms Act for a series of offences committed in different areas of Hudkeshwar Police Station. However, considering the potential threat the six accused posed to the citizens, law and order situation, the six accused robbers have now been booked under Section 3 of MCOCA, 1999.

This information was shared with media persons by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Kumar Sharma at a press conference held here on Monday.

The six accused who faced the MCOCA rap are Sheikh Salman Sheikh Vakil (19) of Bada Tajbagh, Sheikh Shakil Sheikh Shabbir (21) of Kharbi, Praful alias Papya Tarachand Chaudhary (21) of Chimur, Chandrapur District but presently staying at near Dighori Flyover, Raju Pyarelal Shende (50) of Nirala Society near Virsa Baba Durgah, Gulrez Nasir Bakas (20) of Nirala Society Sakkardara and Gurdayal alias Guru Pancham Tandekar (23) of Motha Tajbagh.

Cops were on the hot trail of the gang as the incidents of looting on the Outer Ring Road of Umred Road had increased alarmingly. The Outer Ring Road is frequented by, among others, the young couples. And these young couples were made the easy targets by the gang. The couples were found hesitating in lodging complaints with police. The area of operation by the gang members falls between the limits of Nandanvan Police Station and Hudkeshwar Police Station. The looting sometimes turned more serious with gangrape and murders turning out to be the fallout of the crime.
