MCOCA invoked against 11 members of gang involved in 32 murders, bid to murder, looting

Nagpur News: Nagpur Police have invoked the dreaded MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) against a gang of 11 hardcore criminals involved 32 offences of murders, attempt to murder, waylaying, looting and a case under Section 3 has been filed against the gang members in a Special MCOCA Court. (Section 3 of the MCOCA provides that whoever commits an offence of organized crime shall be punishable with death or imprisonment of life if the offence results in the death of any person and in other cases to be punishable with imprisonment to a term which shall not be less than 5 years but which may extend to imprisonment for life and fine).

According to police, the 11 accused identified as Nitin Shyamlal Shimle (27), resident of Old Shukrawari, Kotwali, Nagpur, Abhay Namdeo Raut (24), resident of Plot No 117, Pawansut Nagar, near Saoli Amma Dargah, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur, Amol Manikrao Junghare (25), resident of Plot No. 53/A, Omnagar, Sakkardara, Nagpur, Prashant alias Bobby Gajanan Dhote (25), resident of Plot No. 58, Omnagar, Sakkardara, Akash Ghanshyam Mishra (26), Plot No. 46, Sriramnagar, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur, Akash Ashok Tarade (24), resident of Old Shukrawari, Kotwali, Swapnil Subhash Salunke (29), resident of Plot No. 419, Omnagar, Sakkardara, Sachin Rajendra Roy (25), resident of Plot No. 254, Omnagar, Sakkardara, Rahul Divakar Karlewar (24), resident of Hudkeshwar, Nagpur, Jitu Sampatrao Gadmade (30), resident of behond Hedgewar Bhavan, Old Shukrawari, Nagpur, and Rahul Chhaganlal Shimle (25), resident of Bhande Layout, Nandanvan, Nagpur had on 9.6.2014 attacked Sumit Suresh Tiwari (32), resident of Temple Bazaar, Sitabuldi and killed him with sharp-edged weapons and heavy stones in front of Sangram Beer Bar situated on Great Nag Road and injured his friend Mohammed Riyaz. Kotwali police, on the basis of a complaint lodged in this connection, had booked the gang members under Sections 143, 147, 148, 397, 302, 395, 201 of the IPC, Sub-Sections 4+25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act.

A sustained investigation revealed that the gang members were involved in 32 offences of murder, attempt to murder, waylaying, looting and other serious offences.

Subsequently, on the directives of Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police Anupkumar Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Deepak Pandey, DCP (Zone 3) Nirmaladevi S the MCOCA was invoked against the 11 gang members. A case under Section 3 of the Act was filed against the accused in the Special MCOCA Court. Further probe is being carried out by ACP Gaekwad (Kotwali Division) under the guidance of DCP Nirmaladevi S.
