Nagpur: A massive fire broke out in Dhamangaon village of Bhiwapur taluka in Nagpur district, reducing more than half of the village to ashes and causing severe damage to property and livelihoods.
According to local reports, the fire spread rapidly due to strong evening winds, turning into a major blaze within a short time. Several mud and tiled houses were completely destroyed, leaving many families without shelter, food, or basic necessities.

Tragically, a large number of livestock, including cows, bulls, and goats, were burnt alive, dealing a heavy blow to farmers who depend on them for their livelihood. The incident has resulted in significant financial losses for villagers.
Initial information suggests that the fire may have started when dry agricultural waste (crop residue) was set on fire in nearby fields, which, combined with windy conditions and stored firewood outside homes, allowed the flames to spread quickly into the residential area.
Fire brigade teams from multiple centers rushed to the spot, and efforts to control the blaze continued till late evening. However, power outages in nearby villages created additional challenges for firefighting operations.
Local residents also tried to douse the flames, but the intensity of the fire left little time to save belongings. Food grains, clothes, and essential household items were reduced to ashes, leaving several families in distress.
The administration has begun assessing the damage, and villagers have demanded immediate financial assistance and relief measures for the affected families.
