Nagpur: A 55-year-old woman was killed and five members of her family suffered serious injuries after the ambulance they were travelling in had a collision with a speeding truck at Mankapur Square on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Munni Soni, a resident of Chhindwara, while those injured are Vivek Soni, Vishal Soni, Gayatri Soni, Nandu Soni and Renuka Soni. They are undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Mankapur.
PSI Gulabrao Atram said Renuka had suffered injuries a few days ago in an accident. She was earlier admitted at a hospital in Chhindwara from where the doctors referred her to a private hospital at Mankapur. The family was accompanying Soni in the ambulance to the hospital. The family had almost reached the destination when a speeding loaded truck collided head on with the ambulance. The truck driver lost control over the vehicle and the truck rammed into a stationary school bus parked nearby. The school bus overturned and was badly damaged.
