Mangle couple arrested for demanding Rs 10 crore from tainted MSRDC chief Mopalwar

Thane: A couple, who had demanded extortion money from the tainted MSRDC chief Radheshyam Mopalwar, was arrested by the Anti-Extortion Squad of Thane police on Friday. The accused, Satish and Shraddha Mangle, had demanded Rs 10 crore as extortion from Mopalwar who was sacked by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the allegations of corruption and assets disproportionate to known sources of income of the 1995-batch IAS officer.

Mopalwar was the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and was handling several key projects including the Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway, the dream project of Chief Minister Fadnavis.

It is alleged that Satish Mangle is a habitual accused and proclaimed offender who was arrested by Bandra police in year 2012 and facing criminal case related to call records and phone tapping.
