Man, trying to save friend in a brawl, attacked, robbed in Pachpaoli

Nagpur: A man’s bid to save his friend in a quarrel proved costly for him as he himself was attacked and also robbed of cash and gold worth Rs 47,500. The incident took place in Pachpaoli police jurisdiction on Thursday night.

A resident of Plot No. 101, New Mangalwari, Chetan Keshav Kumbhre (30) in his complaint told police that he owned a Kurta Pyjama manufacturing unit in Pachpaoli area. On Thursday around 10.30 pm, he closed his factory and was standing in front of it. At the same time, Chetan saw his friend Pankaj Shrawan Nimje being assaulted by accused Jagdeesh Gokhale, a resident of Naik Talao, near Datta Mandir, and his three accomplices who were armed with knife.

Seeing his friend in trouble, Chetan tried to save him. But the accused Jagdeesh and three others attacked him with bricks and inflicted head injuries. The accused also snatched Chetan’s Rs 7000 cash and a gold chain and ring worth Rs 40,500.

Pachpaoli API Chavan, based on Chetan’s complaint, registered an offence against the accused under Sections 394, 34 of the IPC and launched a search to apprehend them.
