Road Accident
Nagpur: A man taking his horse in a pick-up van was killed as the speeding vehicle crashed onto a roadside tree. Surprisingly, even though the mishap took place in the month of May 2017 as per police release, the complaint in this regard, it seems, was lodged after more than three months of the incident for reasons better known to police and relatives of the deceased. Hingna police have now booked the pick-up van driver under various sections.

The deceased, Rashid Abbas Pathan (40), resident of Mothi Anji, District Wardha, was taking his horse in the Bolero pick-up van (MH-32/Q 5473) of the accused Devendra Shankar Botre in the wee hours of May 4, 2017. It is not clear whether the van was coming to Nagpur or going towards Wardha. The driver was racing his van rashly. Midway near Mauza Zilpi Shivar in Hingna, the driver Devendra lost control over the speeding pick-up van and it crashed onto a roadside tree. As a result, Rashid Pathan received grievous injuries and died on the spot. What was the fate of his horse could not be ascertained immediately.

Hingna ASI Rajesh Ghuge, acting on a belated complaint lodged by Nasir Khan Abbas Khan (30), has booked the accused pick-up van driver Devendra Botre under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177, 184 of Motor Vehicles Act and probing the matter further.
