Nagpur: A young man sexually exploited a minor girl for over two years by promising to tie the nuptial knot with her and when she became pregnant, the accused abducted her. The accused forced the victimised girl to have abortion by consuming pills and again exploited the minor girI sexually frequently.
Identified as Akshay Rajendra Sonwane (22), the accused is a resident of 8th Mile, Wadi. The mother of the 17-year-old victim lodged a complaint with the police that Akshay established physical relationship with her daughter since January 2016 till May 2018. When her daughter conceived, Akshay promised to tie the nuptial knot with her. He then kidnapped the victim and forced her to have abortion by giving her pills.
Gittikhadan Woman PSI Kinnake, based on probe report of Wadi police and complaint lodged by victim girl’s mother, registered an offence under Sections 363, 376(2) (i)(n) of the IPC read with Sections 4, 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, against the accused Akshay Sonwane. Further investigations are underway.
