Nagpur: Suspecting her infidelity, a40-year-old man strangled his wife to death with her own saree at Bhiwapur in Nagpur district on Wednesday morning. Cops took accused Pramod Kusan Wavre, a resident of Bhiwapur, near Nagar Panchayat office, into custody.
Pramod suspected that his wife Durga was having an extra marital affair. Often, he used to torture her. Between 5 am and 8 am on Wednesday, an argument broke out between the couple. In a fit of rage, Pramod strangulated her to death with her own saree.
Following a complaint lodged by Asaram Thatkar (48), brother of the deceased, Bhiwapur Police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against Pramod. Further probe is underway.
Youth kills uncle over petty dispute in Khapa
A dispute over alleged trespassing in an agricultural field led to the murder of a middle-aged farmer by his nephew at village Kothurna in Khapa area near Nagpur on Thursday.
A native of Kothurna, Purshottam Lambat (49), was axed to death by Sandeep Laxman Lambat (28) when the former did not allow him to cross his agricultural land. According to Nagpur Rural Police, Purshottam Lambat and his nephew were at loggerheads over a water-well dispute since last year. A complaint was also lodged with the police after a quarrel between them.
On Thursday, the issue aggravated when Sandeep tried to cross his uncle’s agricultural field. Purshottam started shouting at him and tried to prevent him from crossing the field. Sandeep lost his temper. He picked up an axe and attacked Purshottam, killing him on the spot.
Villagers rushed Purshottam to Primary Health Centre at Khapa where the medical officer declared him ‘brought dead.’ Khapa Police arrested Sandeep on charges under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are underway.
