Nagpur:
A 30-year old man was murdered and his body was dumped into a well situated in MHADA Colony in Wadi area. Cops have arrested three persons in connection with the murder and hunting two other accused who have gone absconding. Initially, Wadi police had registered a case of accidental death when the man’s body was found floating in the well. However, the post-mortem revealed the deceased was thrashed and stoned to death by assailants.

The deceased has been identified as Salim Ahmed Sheikh (30), resident of Ramji Ambedkar, Ward No 5, 8th Mile, Wadi.

According to information, the deceased Salim Ahmed Sheikh had left home around 7 pm on September 26 and had told family members that he was going to sister Shahnaz Sayyed’s house in Ajni. However, the next day Shahnaz phoned and told family members that Salim had not come to her house. Salim’s mobile phone too was found switched off. Subsequently, a missing complaint was lodged at Ajni Police Station.

Meanwhile, a man’s body was found floating in the well at MHADA Colony, Davalameta, Wadi. The brother of the deceased, Akbar Ahmed Sheikh (28), identified the body as that of Salim Ahmed Sheikh. After registering a case of accidental death, Wadi police launched a detailed probe.

In the meanwhile, the post-mortem report revealed that the deceased Salim was beaten and stoned to death and later his body was dumped in the well with the intention of destroying evidence. With this new development, cops started their investigation to crack the murder.

As the cops were investigating the murder, a person named Mangesh Shende came to the house of Akbar Ahmed Sheikh and told him that his deceased brother Salim and the five accused Ravi Laxman Katre (30), Guddu Laxman Katre (28), Akash Narnavre (28), Sanjay Shrinath Marve (24) and Kishore Ashok Sathe (28), all residents of 8th Mile, Wadi, were involved in a brawl over an old dispute.
