Man from MP nabbed for trying to snatch woman’s gold chain at knife-point in Sadar

Nagpur: A middle-aged man hailing from Madhya Pradesh was arrested by Sadar police when he tried to snatch a gold chain from a young woman at knife-point.

The complainant Ashwini Purshottam Pantaone (27), resident of CPWD Colony, Civil Lines, around 5.30 pm on Monday, was returning home along with her sister on their two-wheeler. Midway between Itarsi Bridge and Mental Hospital Square in front of NADT office, the bike-borne accused Pritpalsingh alias Sonu Jaswantsingh Kalshi (40), native of Sanjay Nagar, Hoshangabad (MP), came from behind and injured Ashwini with a knife-like weapon. After injuring her, the accused Pritpalsingh tried to snatch a gold chain she was wearing around her neck. But cries of help by Ashwini deterred the accused from carrying out his nasty act. The scare Ashwini later approached Sadar police and lodged a complaint in this regard.

Acting on her complaint, Sadar WPSI P M shende booked the accused Pritpalsingh alias Sonu Jaswantsingh Kalshi under Section 394 of the IPC and succeeded in arresting him.
