
Nagpur: A tragic incident was reported from Kinhi (Neri) village under the Hingna police station limits in Nagpur, where a man lost his life due to electrocution while attempting to catch fish.
The deceased has been identified as Sadashiv Namdev Madavi. According to available information, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon near a stream connected to Nandira Lake, where Madavi had gone fishing.
Preliminary reports suggest that he attempted to use an electric current in the water to catch fish, a hazardous and illegal method. During the process, he accidentally came into contact with the live wire and was electrocuted, collapsing on the spot.
Some individuals from a nearby de-addiction centre noticed him lying unconscious and immediately alerted his family members. He was first rushed to a Primary Health Centre at Vyahad Peth and later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation into the incident.
The incident highlights the dangers associated with illegal fishing practices and has raised concerns over awareness and safety in rural areas.
