Man crushed to death by crane in MIDC area

Nagpur: A 49-year old man died when the Scooty he was riding was rammed by a heavy crane vehicle in MIDC area on Friday. The driver of the killer vehicle has been arrested.

The victim, Vinod Koyabhai Parmar (49), resident of Balaji Steel Company, Amar Nagar, MIDC was going on his Scooty Moped (MH-31/AC 602) for booking LPG cylinder around 3.45 pm on Friday. When Vinod was passing through Lucent Energy Company, a speeding heavy crane vehicle (MH-31/CV 5686) rammed the Scooty injuring him critically. Vinod died on the spot before any medical help could be administered to him. The fatal accident created commotion with people resorting to strong protests. However, cops from MIDC Police Station reached the spot and calmed down the situation.

MIDC Senior PSI Ramteke, based on a complaint filed by Santosh Sharma, booked the driver of the crane Ashok Ganesh Singh (37), resident of Amar Nagar, under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC and Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and arrested him.

In another incident, an elderly person was knocked dead by an auto in hit-and-run case on Friday in Siraspeth area.

The deceased Keshavrao Haribhau Mukulwar (76), resident of Siraspeth, Nagpur was returning home walking at about 5.20 pm on Friday. When Keshavrao reached near New Pratibha School in the same area, an unidentified auto hit him and ran away. A seriously injured Keshavrao was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). However, he died within half an hour while undergoing treatment.

Imambada API has registered an offence against the unidentified auto driver under relevant sections of IPC and Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
