Nagpur: A 41-year old man, booked by Tehsil police on the chrages of molesting a 9-year old girl, committed suicide by jumping into Gandhisagar Lake on Friday, November 19.
The deceased, Ayub Ibrahim Khan, felt humiliated on being booked and had even threatened the girl’s mother that he would end his life if a police complaint was registered against him.
According to police, on November 15, around 1 pm, the accused Ayub Khan allegedly molested the 9-year old girl when she went to the shop owned by her grandfather. The accused was working in the shop. Subsequently, the girl’s mother had registered a case and the Tehsil police had booked Ayub Khan under Sections 354, 506 of the IPC read with Sections 8, 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, after Ayub Khan’s body was fished out of Gandhisagar Lake, his family members stormed Ganeshpeth Police Station and demanded action against his accusers. Cops have registered a case of accidental death as of now and probing the matter thoroughly.
