Nagpur:
In a major upheaval, City Congress President Vikas Thakre lost the NMC poll from Prabhag 37. According to reports reaching to Nagpur Today, Thakre lost the election by a slender margin of 800 votes. It could not be verified whether Thakre has demanded recounting of votes.

Vikas Thakre is veteran Congress leader and had won the local body elections in the past also. He was former Mayor and currently held the post of Leader of Opposition in NMC.

The early trends of results of NMC poll showed BJP marching ahead in several Prabhags. Congress is lagging far behind. Vikas Thakre had drawn severe flak from scores of party leaders and workers at the time of distribution of tickets for the crucial NMC poll. A number of party leaders and workers who were denied tickets revolted against the party leadership and jumped in the fray as rebels.

The defeat of Thakre was least expected as he was sure to win from Prabhag 37, a Congress burrough.
