Nagpur: A major fire erupted in a Hindustan Petroleum Petrol Pump situated on Wadi Road near Hotel Rahul on May 9, 2015 at around 2:40 pm.
This road is pretty busy throughout the day right from early morning to late in the night. Many commuters come to refill petrol and diesel in their vehicles. However, no casualty was reported. Thick black smoke could be seen bellowing from the fire at the Petrol Pump from far off. Panic reigned supreme in that area. Many people who were traversing the road in their vehicle were afraid of the petrol pump assuming a monstrous proportion and the pump blasting.
The fire department received the phone call about the fire at 14:40 (2:40 pm) that the petrol tank of Krishna Petrol Pump, Wadi near Hotel Rahul had caught fire. Nearly six to seven fire tenders have already reached the spot and are busy trying to extinguish the fire.
The Fire tenders from Wadi Fire Station also reached the spot. Seven senior Fire Department Officials and the entire staff of Wadi Police station have reached the spot and are monitoring the operations of extinguishing the fire.
The news of fire has already spread like wild fire and the video and the news has already gone viral in the social media.
The nearby shops and residents have been vacated to safer place for the moment. A large number of onlookers have reached the spot seeing the news through the Whatsapp. The petrol-tank buried can also blast claim some sources if the fire is not extinguished soon.
The Petrol Pump is said to be owned by Kamal Baweja.
