
Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police have initiated a large-scale special drive against illegal liquor activities and public drinking across the city, resulting in significant enforcement action and seizures.
The action was conducted under the directives of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, with guidance from Additional Commissioners including Vasant Pardeshi, Rajendra Dabhade, and Shivajirao Rathod.
Starting April 20, 2026, the special campaign covered all police station jurisdictions in Nagpur. The focus was to maintain law and order and deter criminal activities by targeting individuals involved in:
• Illegal liquor consumption in public places
• Unauthorized liquor sales
• Providing spaces for drinking
During the operation, police registered 94 cases under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act and NDPS laws, taking action against 98 accused individuals. Authorities seized liquor and related materials worth Rs 56,85,515.
In addition to the crackdown, police teams conducted inspections at residences of wanted and absconding criminals, including repeat offenders involved in burglary, vehicle theft, and violent crimes. Criminal records were updated accordingly.
Officials confirmed that this coordinated movement will continue in the coming days to strengthen public safety and curb illegal activities.
