Nagpur: As expected, the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly on Monday has unanimously ratified the constitutional amendment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill after Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar assured that the State will not lose single penny after the GST is imposed in State. The Finance Minister also clarified in the 288-member State Assembly that the inflation rate will be reduced by implementation of GST.

A special one-day session was called by the Legislature to consider ratification of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Constitutional Amendment Bill which was passed by Parliament this month. Mungantiwar tabled a resolution to ratify the GST Bill wherein 14 members expressed their views including Opposition Leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chauhan and former Finance Ministers Jayant Patil.

Mungantiwar while replying to the queries raised by Opposition members said, “The government will insist to make separate provision in the Act so that BMC neither has to wait nor need to follow time to time for the compensation. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also discussed the Mumbai related issue with the Union Finance Minister,” he stated.
