Maha Metro’s CCTV cameras helping cops to detect crimes in Nagpur

Nagpur: Maha Metro’s Majhi Metro in Nagpur is not only providing world standard ride foir commuters but is also providing security to the citizens. Maha Metro has installed CCTV cameras at metro stations and their premises to keep watch on commuters and also anti-social elements. The CCTV cameras are proving to be helpful for Nagpur police in detecting crimes. Recently, the city police detected two incidents of thefts with the help of Maha Metro’s CCTV cameras.

MIDC Police arrested four women thieves involved in stealing valuables from passengers in metro rail and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh from them. The accused had stolen a purse containing two gold necklaces worth Rs 2 lakh from a woman at Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station by distracting her attention on May 11. On receiving complaint, cops scanned CCTV cameras installed at metro station and recognised the accused.

Similarly, a two-wheeler of a nurse was stolen from near Agrasen Square Metro Station. The theft was captured by Metro Station CCTV cameras. This helped the cops to arrest the vehicle lifter.

Ganeshpeth police are also searching for miscreants who burgled Rs 2 lakh cash from a person. The incident was also captured by Metro CCTV cameras. After scanning the CCTV footage, cops are searching the culprits.

The CCTV cameras installed at Metro trains, platforms and station premises are not only providing security to the citizens but are also helping police to detect crimes.
