Nagpur: The Maharashtra Bandh, called by Sakal Maratha Samaj demanding reservation to the community, got good response from different parts of Vidarbha. Business establishments and educational institutes were closed since morning in Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal districts to avoid any untoward incidents during the Bandh.
The agitators had started gearing up for the Bandh since morning as hundreds of people with saffron turbans on their heads had assembled to garland Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Mahal area.
The Bori-Tuljapur road in Yavatmal was blocked by the agitators since seven in the morning. The agitators were seen serving food to the affected passengers on this road, which usually witnesses heavy transportation as it connects Vidarbha and Marathwada. Umarkhed area in Yavatmal also reported good response to the Bandh.
Bus services were completely affected at Hinganghat in Wardha district while market places in Bhandara had deserted look since morning.
