Lovers, with their wrists tied together, jump into Ambazari Lake in suicide pact

  • Two more bodies of a handicapped person and a rickshaw puller found in Gandhisagar Lake.

Nagpur: In a development that sparked sensation in the city, four bodies were found floating in Ambazari and Gandhisagar Lakes on Saturday morning. In Ambazari Lake, two lovers tied their wrists together with a scarf and jumped to death in suicide pact. Similarly, bodies of a rickshaw puller and a handicapped person were recovered from Gandhisagar Lake.

According to police, morning walkers at Ambazari Lake spotted bodies of a lover duo with their hands tied to each other’s. On being informed, Ambazari police reached the scene and pulled out the bodies and sent them to GMCH for post-mortem. However, the identities of the lover boy and girl or the reason behind the suicide pact could not be established till the filing of this report. Eye-witnesses said that wrists of the two lovers were tied together when their bodies were pulled out from the lake in an apparent message that “Not even death can do us part.”

Ambazari police have registered  a case of accidental death and probing the matter from all angles.

In another incident, two bodies were seen floating in Gandhisagar Lake this morning. Ganeshpeth police who reached the scene pulled out the bodies with the help of renowned diver Jagdish Khare. Sources said that one of the bodies was of a handicapped person while other was of a rickshaw puller. The deceased have not so far been identified. Cops have sent the bodies to Government Hospital for post-mortem.

A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigations are underway.
