‘Local connect’ of 3 youths on ISIS trail being looked; Red alert at Nagpur airport

Nagpur: As the three youths from Hyderabad on their trail to join ISIS were intercepted and arrested at Nagpur airport, security agencies are digging deeper to look into the ‘local connect’ of the arrested youths. Nagpur ATS has warned of alert in the city, following which Nagpur airport has been put on red alert. Security has also been beefed up around the key buildings in the city.

Sources said that additional ‘Jawans’ of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have been posted at the airport. Patrolling has been intensified in and outside the airport. Security personnel are keeping a close watch at every movement and suspected persons inside the airport premises, it was learnt.

It may be noted here that on Saturday morning three youths from Hyderabad were rounded up in a joint operation by the Maharashtra ATS and Counter Intelligence Team (CIT) of Hyderabad police. The arrested youths were identified as Abdul Basit Mohammed Arif, 21, resident of Naseeb Nagar, Saiyyad Umar Farookh Hussain, 22, and Maaz Hassan Farookh, 21, Humayun Nagar, all hailing from Hyderabad.

Extra vigil was reportedly being maintained with the help of zooming equipments.

Meanwhile, the ATS sleuths suspected local connection of these youths, however, the three have denied the same during initial interrogation.

Sources said that Nagpur once served as the office for few banned organizations. Security agencies were reportedly keeping alert as they did not want to run any risk.
