
Nagpur: In a late-night crackdown on illegal activities, Sadar Police in Nagpur busted a gambling racket operating near railway tracks in the Goa Colony area, booking a total of nine accused and seizing cash and valuables worth Rs 22,700.
According to official information, the case has been registered under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act based on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Ghogre of Sadar Police Station. The incident took place between 12:45 am and 1:30 am, while the information was received at around 1:45 am, prompting immediate police action.
Acting on instructions from senior officers, the police team was on night patrol targeting illegal businesses within their jurisdiction when a confidential informant tipped them off about a group of individuals engaged in unlawful gambling activities at an open ground near the railway line in Goa Colony.
Based on this intelligence, the police swiftly conducted a raid at the указан location. Upon arrival, several individuals were found gambling. The police managed to detain eight accused on the spot, while one key accused, identified as Firoz alias Goa (Syed Firoz Syed Noor, 46), fled the scene after sensing police presence.
During questioning, the detained individuals revealed that the absconding accused Firoz alias Goa was the main operator running the illegal gambling den. Following the raid, police seized cash along with three mobile phones from the accused, with the total value of the confiscated items amounting to Rs 22,700 in the presence of witnesses.
Subsequently, police traced and apprehended the absconding accused Firoz alias Goa and brought him to the police station, where further legal action was initiated against him.
All nine accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Gambling Act, and further investigation into the case is currently underway.
