Nagpur: A man working as SSC Machine Operator in Koradi Thermal Power Station was killed in freak mishap that took place in the wee hours of Friday. The deceased has been identified as Prashant Namdeo Basu (34), resident of Arya Nagar in Koradi area. On Friday around 3 am, the SSC Machine Operator, after observing that the coupling of a coal-laden wagon was not functioning properly, went near the wagon to personally inspect the coupling. While Prashant was busy in inspecting the coupling, suddenly he got crushed between the wagon and the side arm charger and his chest received grievous injuries. Prashant was immediately taken to Mayo Hospital by his colleague Suryabhan Sadashiv Morey (42). However, doctors at the hospital pronounced Prashant brought dead.
Koradi PSI Bond, based on the information of Mayo Police Booth, registered a case of accidental death and started further probe.
