Nagpur: A gang of five dacoits was arrested in the nick of time and an imminent strike was foiled by the alert cops of Kotwali Police Station on the midnight of Wednesday.

A squad of policemen was on patrolling duty well past midnight of Wednesday. Around 0100 hours, the cops spotted a gang of five suspicious persons assembled at Prabhat Sports Store near Chitnis Park Square. When confronted by the patrolling cops over the motive of gathering at the odd hours, the five persons fumbled and failed to give satisfactory reply. This fumbling aroused suspicion in the minds of the cops and they frisked the gang members.

The thorough frisking led to recovery of lethal weapons including sharp-edged knives, iron rods, chili powder, rope etc. The recovery of the lethal stuff clearly pointed out that the gang of five was planning to strike at a suitable place.
