Nagpur: A kirtan programme was organised to mark Guru Purab celebrations by Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Kamptee Road, at Kasturchand Park in the city on Monday.
“Guru Purab is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the first Guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak Sahib,” said Tejinder Singh Renu, a devout Sikh and noted businessman from the city. The day bears a special significance for the Sikh community. However, this Guru Purab is being seen as a rare event, as the moon tonight is the biggest. Sikh community from the city is considering it as a good omen.
President of the Kamptee Gurudwara Committee Joga Singh Virdi, secretary is Prakash Singh Jabbal and some other prominent Sikh personalities from the city were present on this occasion.
