Kamptee cops seize illegally mined sand worth Rs 2 lakh, 4 booked

New Kamptee police have booked four persons on the charges of illegal sand mining and stocking a huge quantity clandestinely in an agriculture field in Mauza Neri area. The illegally stacked sand, worth Rs 2 lakh, has been seized. The four accused have been identified as Parasram Vanjari, Rahul Vatkar, Deva Vanjari and Din Ali, all residents of Kamptee. A few days back, cops had cracked down on sand mafia of Khaparkheda and had invoked MCOCA sections against some persons.

The DB Squad of New Kamptee Police Station received information that a huge quantity of sand, around 20-25 brass, was stocked at the farm land in Mauza Neri. Acting on the information, the DB Squad, led by PSI Chechere, reached the spot. The cops came to know that the farm land belonged to Rajesh Sajjan Jain of Nagpur but was unaware of the sand stock in his field. After investigation, it came to fore that the four accused had stacked 20-25 brass of illegally mined sand worth Rs 2 lakh. Subsequently, cops booked the four accused Parasram Vanjari, Rahul Vatkar, Deva Vanjari and Din Ali and launched an in-depth probe into the matter.
