Nagpur: In a major boost to the State’s renewable energy sector, Jupiter International Limited, one of India’s leading photovoltaic solar cell manufacturers, on Thursday announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Government to set up a state-of-the-art integrated solar manufacturing facility at Butibori, Nagpur.
The proposed project, involving an investment of around Rs 10,900 crore, will cover the entire solar value chain, from wafer manufacturing to advanced solar cell production and module manufacturing. Once operational, the Butibori unit will mark a significant expansion of Jupiter International’s manufacturing footprint and strengthen its vision of creating a vertically integrated solar platform.
At present, the company operates two manufacturing plants in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with a combined installed capacity of 1 GW. The new Nagpur facility will not only add to this capacity but also position Maharashtra as a key hub for renewable energy manufacturing in India.
“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to building India’s renewable energy future through technology, scale, and regional empowerment. We are thankful to the Maharashtra Government for their continued support and guidance,” said Jupiter International Managing Director, Alok Garodia.
Officials said the upcoming facility is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the Vidarbha region while contributing to India’s solar energy targets.
