JNARDDC celebrates its 25th year

IMG_6129 (2)Nagpur News: Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) has organized a function on Thursday (April 24) to mark its Foundation Day celebrations and Silver Jubilee Year. The programme has been organized at JNARDDC Auditorium. Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited, Nagpur Dr. Gopal Dhawan will be the Chief Guest  and Emeritus Scientist, NFTDS, Hyderabad Dr.T. R. Ramchandran will be the Guest of Honor.

Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre is an autonomous body which was set up by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India in April 1989 to cater to the R&D needs of the Indian Aluminium Industries. Partial financial and technological assistance was provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) of UNIDO. JNARDDC is one of its kind of R & D Centre of Excellence in South East Asia, where the facilities for conducting research in all areas ranging from bauxite to finished product are available under one roof. The Centre is recognized as a Scientific & Industrial organization by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, DSIR. Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The Centre has a number of sophisticated and state-of-art equipment and also highly qualified and trained manpower. It has been helping the Indian Aluminium industry in several ways such as finding solutions to plant problems, making on-site measurements, testing of different raw materials and technology development etc. The Centre has executed several projects for Indian aluminium industries covering wide ranging areas from bauxite, alumina production, aluminium electrolysis to downstream processing. The Centre in last 25 years had complited more than 95 projects sponsored by GOI, all major aluminium companies (like NALCO, BALCO, HINDALCO and VEDANTA etc) as well as other aluminium related companies. Task Force of Asia Pacific (AP-7 countries Australia, USA. China, Korea, Japan, India and Canada) partnership programme on Clean Development and Climate had identified seven projects in aluminium sector worldwide. India was entrusted with R & D project in the area of Management of Bauxite Residue. This project launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India was successfully coordinated and completed in time by JNARDDC jointly with NALCO.
