Exactly a decade ago, Karan Johar introduced John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan’s Dostana to the Indian audience, and the film turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2008. And now a decade later, makers are planning a sequel to the hit film. Buzz has it that KJo has given his nod to Dostana sequel and the film is expected to go on floors by early next year.
And if a report in an entertainment portal is to be believed, Karan has finalised Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra for the film. It is no secret that after Alia Bhatt, Karan has found his favourite in Janhvi. If she has bagged KJo’s period drama Takht, she might also be seen in the sequel of Dostana.
“Karan Johar always wanted to make Dostana 2, especially after the first film worked so well. Now finally he has a script for the film, which of course will speed up production. As for the cast, Karan has finalized both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, and is currently looking out for the third lead role that will again be a male lead,” a source told the portal.
“Like the first film this one too will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The only difference will be the story and cast that will change. But as of now with the hunt still on, the film is still a long way off from going on floor,” the source added.
If things go as planned, this will be the first time that Janhvi and Sidharth will share screen space.
Currently, Sidharth has begun shooting for Jabariya Jodi with Parineeti Chopra. Janhvi, on the other hand, has signed her second film with Karan Johar.
