Jaipur: A curfew has been imposed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, after Friday evening’s clashes between the locals and police in pink city’s Ramganj area. The violence has left one policeman dead and around 10 injured.
Tension gripped the Ramganj police station area after a youth was allegedly beaten up by the police while dispersing a crowd, said reports.
The mobile internet services have been suspended in Ramganj area which is communally sensitive. On Friday evening, the protesters charged at a police station and torched some vehicles. The cops used baton charge and teargas shells to disperse the angry protestors. Extra force was rushed to the area to bring the situation under control.
The Tribune quoted Jaipur Police Commissioner Sanjay Agrawal as saying that the situation was under control and the area was cordoned off.
