jail-break-in-nagpurNagpur: In what could be mentioned as sheer negligence of prison authorities, five dreaded prisoners escaped from Nagpur Central Jail on March 31, 2015 at 2 am.

Three prisoners are said to be booked under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). Two others are said to be the offenders of Section 392 (Mugging) of Indian Penal Code.

The escaped prisoners are identified as follows:

  1. 1.    Bisen Singh Ramulal Uikey aged 35 years. (MCOCA Offender)
  2. 2.    Satyendar @ Rahul Rajbahadur Gupta aged 25 years resident of Kamptee (MCOCA offender)
  3. 3.     Mohammed Shoaib @ Shibbu aged 24 years resident of Mankapur (MCOCA offender)
  4. 4.    Prem @ Nepali Salikram Khatri aged 24 years (Many cases of looting, mugging etc)
  5. Akash @ Golu Rajju Singh Thakur aged 23 years (Many cases of looting, mugging etc)

Bisen Singh, Satyendra Gupta and Mohammed Shoaib are said to belong to the dreaded gangster Raja Ghous of Tajbagh. All the three are said to be partners in crime with Raja Ghous and are believed to have committed many crimes together.  Satyendra Gupta had fired bullets on one person at Untkhana square and later at Police officials in Nandanwan area. Raja Ghous was also said to be part of this team which fired at the cops.

The mastermind of the gang is said to be Raja Ghous. As soon as they escaped from the MP Prison, they committed a major crime. A businessman and his wife were looted and murdered. They had succeeded in looting lakhs of rupees. These three dreaded offenders are said to have committed many crimes some of which are not even registered in the police files. Raja Ghous used to threaten many small time criminals and offenders and used to take a cut / share from them in every crime that they committed. Even the police personnel are said to the frightened of the terror he had created. Recently since he had fired on the cops, a shoot-at-sight order was also said to be issued. Finally, the Nagpur Crime Branch personnel had succeeded in apprehending him from Pratapgarh area in Uttar Pradesh. Since then he is said to be lodged in Nagpur Central Prison.

Recently the dreaded gangster Arun Gawli was shifted to Nagpur Central Prison. To add to this the main accused in German Bakery Bomb blast case Himayat Baig was also shifted to Nagpur Central Prison. A Naxalite is also said to be lodged in the Anda Cell of jail. Both of these dreaded accused are said to be kept in Anda Cell (Cellular Jail). Since this Anda Cell is monitored round the clock by prison officials and has good security arrangements, these offenders are watched continuously.

Many incidents that had occurred prior to the jail break like a costly mobile phone being found near the Anda Cell three days ago, brown sugar pouch found inside the cells, and all such incident gives rise to suspicion. Sources claim this daring escape is possible only with the support or abetment from some senior level jail authority. Some sources said that these escapees had scaled nearly three walls at around 2 am early on March 31, 2015.

With the escape of the five prisoners, the city police swung into action. Many senior police officials including Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Tarawade, Joint Commissioner of Police  Anup Kumar, Nagpur South Region Additional Commissioner of Police Deepak Pande, Deputy Inspector General Shashikant Shinde, DCP (Zone IV) Ishu Sindhu, ACP (Crime Branch) Nilesh Raut, PI Shirimkar, the entire staff of crime branch, detective branch officials have zeroed in the Central Prisons. A high level meeting was held inside the jail premises and the city police officials have swung into action to nab the absconding prisoners.
