The election fever has certainly overshadowed the couple of recent Bollywood releases and worries loom large over upcoming IPL season too. While the theatres are drawing the minimum crowd, the candidates in Nagpur went fetching some celebrities to mark their two-in-one programme – Entertainment cum Election Campaign – the activity we fondly named as ‘Electainment’. While you may go browsing the dictionary to track this word, we trotted the poll programmes of some of the party candidates and bring you some piece of information.

The celebrity packed campaigning is certainly not the news and the finishing days of March saw actors from reel being rolled out on the dais to pitch for votes in favour of the parties they endorsed. The Nagpurians were greeted with the glance of sultry Divya Dutta and somber beauty Preeti Jhangiani, not the least, the unique antics of Navjot Singh Siddhu ala Siddhu paaji. All of them carried high degree of magnetism around them that drew the crowds out in the scorching sun.  The trail would continue in the first week of April too where the celebrities would try to usher in mass appeal.

Chal Basanti…Aaj teri pareeksha hai..

Remember this iconic line from all time block buster “Sholay”… This dialogue and many such witty one-liners were made immortal by none other than Hema Malini – the dream girl of bygone cinema. Many of the old time cine goers must have cherished watching yesteryears Bollywood diva Hema Malini on screen and still love to catch a glance of their ‘secret crash’.  So here’s Hema for you on the first day of April.

Kyunki…mein bhi kabhi bahu thhi….

All those who feasted on saas-bahu saga on Indian television do not need to know who the original bahu of television is. No points to guess it’s Smruti Irani. She switched to politics after serving long term as onscreen bahu. Now she will be landing Nagpur to greet the voters on April 2, followed by Hema.

Kaal…cashing popularity in politics

Kaal – the evil character made famous by actor Vivek Oberoi in Krrish 3, is still fresh in the minds of young voters. To cash on this popularity, BJP has roped in Vivek to take their agenda to the larger masses. On the professional front, Vivek is also doing a movie based on Narendra Modi – BJP’s firebrand leader and its Prime Ministerial candidate.  In Nagpur on April 6, Vivek is all set to cheer his audience and set tone for the saffron party.

Banking on political bigwigs

While others look for Bollywood celebrities to endorse their poll projections, Congress has decided to stick to its higher ups to dominate the poll scene in Nagpur, though the party will be roping in celebrities to pitch for Sagar Meghe in Wardha and Mukul Wasnik in Ramtek.
