Extortion threats from underworld, which used to be the part and parcel of Bollywood stars’ lives dominated the filmy scene for quite some time and eventually vanished. But it appears the menace is back to haunt the Bollywood celebrities. And this time the target is none other than superstar Shahrukh Khan as his business partner Ali Morani faced extortion threats from fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari. Five unknown men fired outside Morani’s residence on Saturday evening.
Morani brothers are close to Shahrukh and it is suspected that Shahrukh might be the next target of the gangster. In order to avoid any such threat, Mumbai police have provided adequate security to Shahrukh.
An officer of Mumbai crime branch said “Morani and Khan are close friends and we suspect that Ravi Pujari may attack Khan also. So we are providing two officers for his protection.”
A close source known to Khan revealed, “Pujari wants to garner fame therefore his targets are big name from the Bollywood industry. Hence we have opted to give Shah Rukh protection and review his security.”
According to crime branch officials’ two armed men in civil dress has been deployed outside Shahrukh’s Mannat and has been keeping a sharp eye of every visitor and fans. The cops will be monitoring every activity of the passerby
It is known that few hours before the firing, Morani received threat calls. A police officer said, “The bike that came from Juhu circle direction sped towards Juhu police station area. Two security guards were on duty at that time. Atleast three rounds were fired from one of the assailants which hit the trunk of a tree, glass pane of the building and the bonnet of a BMW car parked inside the building.” Nobody had been injured in the incident.
A case was registered on Sunday at the Juhu police by Morani’s brother, Karim. A crime branch official, said, “We have received information that Morani had a call from Pujari hours before the shooting, which he did not answer. After the firing, Morani’s daughter received an SMS from Pujari briefing about the incident and threatened Morani of dire consequences.”
The Morani brothers have produced successful films like `Raja Hindustani`, `Damini`, `Dushmani`, `Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai`among many others and they are close to stars like Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and many such big names.
