mahavitaran (2)Nagpur News: An anonymous complaint received by Mahavitaran (MSEDCL) Headquarters has allegedly exposed massive corrupt practices over choicest postings and lucrative transfers. The officials, who were facing serious charges of irregularities, were also given the plum posts after they “heavily bribed” another top official, the anonymous complaint alleged. The complaint created ripples as was expected and the Managing Director of MSEDCL directing the Nagpur Zone Chief Engineer  to investigate the matter immediately and submit the report as soon as possible.

The MSEDCL has been given the responsibility for smooth supply of electricity to the large areas of the State. The Maharashtra Government, after considering a heavy workload, appointed officials and employees in great magnitude. The Nagpur Zone consists of Nagpur Rural, Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli. The districts have been flooded with Class 1 officers and Class IV employees. And for postings and transfers, the Maharashtra Government has laid down the rules and regulations.

However, a top official of Nagpur Zone, violating the rules and regulations with impunity, carried out several transfers in exchange of bounties in large proportions, the complaint alleged. The written complaint received by the Managing Director of MSEDCL Ajay Mehta mentions the name of the top official who was “bribed” by 11 officials, employees, whose names are also mentioned in the complaint, and the exact amount of “black money” which was given to the top official of the Nagpur Zone. The officials, who were facing serious charges of financial irregularities, were also handed over lucrative posts immediately after the top official of Nagpur Zone received the mentioned amounts, the complaint said. Some of the officials, who were caught red handed by the Anti – Corruption Bureau, also include in the officials who were given plum postings once the fishy deals were completed.

The complaint also mentions purchasing of posh flats in the Seminary Hills in Nagpur and Mumbai as well as a four-wheeler by the top official of the Nagpur Zone of MSEDCL. Taking the serious note of the anonymous complaint, the MSEDCL Headquarters called the Chief Engineer of the Nagpur Zone Satish Bapat on August 27 and directed him to investigate the matter immediately and initiate stringent actions against the guilty as soon as possible.

SATISH BAPAT DENIES ANY COMMUNICATION:

The Nagpur Zone Chief Engineer Satish Bapat denied receiving any complaint of corruption while postings and transfers. “I have not seen postal communication since past two days. Therefore, commenting on the complaint would be inappropriate,” Bapat said.

THREE BROKERS FOR POSTINGS AND TRANSFERS:

The anonymous complaint received by the MSEDCL Headquarters mentioned that three brokers have been appointed by the top official of the Nagpur Zone for the purpose of lucrative postings and transfers of MSEDCL’s officials and employees. The brokers are active in Nagpur, Ballarshah, and Bhandara, the complaint said.
