Irrigation Scam : Nagpur HC asks Ajit Pawar to file reply in 3 weeks

ajit-pawarNagpur: Hearing a public interest litigation that rocked Maharashtra during Congress-NCP regime, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has asked the accused former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and NCP MLC from Yawatmal Sandip Bajority to file their replies within 3 weeks.

Earlier both Pawar and Bajoriya, has sought time for filing reply on notices served to them in the PIL. The PIL has alleged massive corruption and irregularities into Jigaon and Lower Pedhi irrigation projects in Buldhana and Amravati districts respectively.

The court then adjourned the hearing, while permitting Pawar, Bajoriya and other respondents to file replies within three weeks. The petitioner alleged that in both projects, the contracts were awarded to Bajoriya’s firm at Pawar’s behest during Congress-NCP regime. State irrigation secretary, Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC), Water Resources Department (WRD) chief engineer in Wardha, executive engineer at Khamgaon, and superintendent engineer of Buldhana Irrigation project circle, besides Bajoriya’s firm, are other respondents in the PIL.
