Nagpur: Massive irregularities in recruitment of seasonal teachers in Nagpur Municipal Corporation have come to the fore.
The civic body had on October 18, 2018, published advertisements in newspapers regarding recruitment of seasonal teachers. Accordingly, interviews of candidates were conducted on October 23 and 24. The advertisements had specifically mentioned details of open and reserved posts. However, during selection the candidates belonging to open category were selected on reserved posts violating the government directives and rules. There was no mention in the advertisement on how the reserved posts would be filled up with open category candidates.
When contacted, the NMC’s Education Officer blamed the mistake on the part of newspapers and said that powers to cancel the selection process rested only with the Municipal Commissioner.
The matter was placed before the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner. There is possibility the recruitment process could be scrapped by the rule abiding Municipal Commissioner and the erring babu shifted to other department. If the action is taken the irregularities going on since years could be curbed.
