Nagpur News: While addressing the participants at a National Conference on Corporate Governance organised at International Management Institute, Kolkata on the 16th Jan 2013, Sri D C Garg Chairman cum Managing Director, Western Coalfields Limited explained the changing scenario in Public Sector Undertakings, which have been a great source of support for Indian economy.
“The key performance area in any corporate entity is to make the Board effective for taking strategic decisions”, said Garg, “Now a days, the role of independent directors in the corporate decisions has manifested in a big way. It is the need of hour that independent directors are aware with the nuances of the specific sector in which the PSU operates.”
