In-laws booked for woman’s suicide

Nagpur : A brother in-law and sister in-law of a woman were booked by MIDC police for abetting her to commit suicide. Sunita Wankhede and her husband Arvind Wankhede, residents of Sambhaji Nagar told Usha Wankhede to collect her belongings and leave the house. As a result she doused herself with kerose and set herself on fire on September 14th. Arvind and Sunita were harrasing Usha for a gols ring and dining table. Usha’s mother went to her house to bring her daughter of August 2nd (Rakhi festival). Sunita and Arvind told Usha’s mother not to send her back till their demands were fulfilled. Since Rakhi, Usha was staying at her maternal house. On September 13th, Usha went to her in-law’s place and requested them to let her stay with her husband. Sunita and Arvind denied it hence Usha took the extreme step. Offence under Sections 98(A), 306 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against the accused at MIDC Police Station. Further investigations are under way.
