Several meat shops were set on fire by mob in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh last night. This comes two days after a BJP government led by Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP had announced, in its manifesto titled ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra’, that it would take “stern steps to close down all illegal slaughterhouses besides banning mechanised slaughterhouses” if it comes to power.
